In the Flipping Out episode “Ready Set Glow,” Jeff Lewis is stressed out about potentially losing a longtime client and he and Gage are anxiously awaiting news from their surrogate Alexandra. Luckily, Jeff has found an outlet for his stress. He’s obsessed with watching a TV commercial for Glow Sharks, plastic toy sharks that glow in the dark and in the bathtub. At the end of the commercial, with a fog horn kind of voice, kids lip sync “Glow Sharks.”
Even when Jeff’s not watching the commercial over and over on his computer, he’s talking about it at the office. He provokes his assistants to sing/say “Glow Sharks” in their deepest voices. The only one who won’t do it is Jeff’s new assistant Ashland. “By Ashland not singing Glow Sharks shows me that she’s not committed to the job,” says Jeff. “I’m sorry but Ashland failed the test.” Flipping Out airs Thursdays at 9pm on Bravo.
