In the Bar Rescue episode “Gone in a Flash,” Jon Taffer meets with Tiffany Hutchinson, the owner of City Bistro in St. Louis. Before opening City Bistro in 2012, Tiffany was a successful restaurant manager for 18 years. But during City Bistro’s best month it earned just $14,000 – it paid the bills but she wasn’t making a profit. So she pivoted. She hired female bartenders known for their loyal followers and, she discovered later, for being promiscuous with clients. They flash their boobs at clients and dance provocatively on the bar. Bartender Lauren laughs and calls it The Titty Bistro.
The boob-flashing bartenders have turned away female regulars and a younger crowd. Now Hutchinson feels trapped. She thinks if she fires her bartenders, she’ll lose all her customers. She’s also facing a debt of $300,000. When Hutchinson calls in Taffer, he calls it “the Anti-Christ of female bars.” Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 9pm on SPIKE.
