Linkin’ Bridge, the a cappella group from Louisville, Kentucky, is winning the hearts of America on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. During the Judge Cuts, the band makes an unusually song choice with the 1973 “Free Bird” by Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The song, which is 14 minutes long, has been called “the most-requested song in the history of rock music.”
Story goes the opening line “if I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?” was asked by Allen Collin’s girlfriend, Kathy (they later married). Lynyrd Skynyrd performs the song at the end of their live performances to this day. On AGT, guest judge Ne-Yo is impressed with Linkin’ Bridge’s version of the classic power ballad. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
