American Pie and Sharknado actress Tara Reid is the most famous celebrity on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars — and perhaps the most dramatic. When asked to reveal an early emotional memory, Reid said that when she was 5, she was dropped off at her home (she was raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey) during a blizzard — without anyone home. “I started freezing to death,” she said.
The therapists encourage Reid to reveal more. Could Tara — finally able (for a moment) to look back at neglect in her childhood — be ready for a breakthrough? But that’s as far as Reid can go. She’s suspicious about exposing too much of herself — after all she’s had a pretty rough tabloid ride. She interprets the therapists’ encouragement to delve deeper as an invitation to reveal more about her tabloid life, not as a way to get at who she really is. So Reid refuses to go there and excuses herself from the group. When one of the therapists explains to Reid “I want to know about your school and your big break,” Reid interrupts and says, “It all started when I was a kid; it’s all acting.” Reid got her big break at age 6, when she became a regular on the game show Child’s Play. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars airs Fridays at 9pm on WE.
