Whitney Way Thore is the charismatic 5’2” tall, 370-lb. star of the reality TV show My Big Fat Fabulous Life. In addition to her show getting renewed for a third season, the 32-year-old wrote a book. Her memoir, I Do It with the Lights On: And 10 More Discoveries on the Road to a Blissfully Shame-Free Life, was released on May 31 and it’s getting rave reviews — 92% of reviews on Amazon are 5 stars; and it’s ranked #26 in the Self-Esteem category.
The first chapter of I Do It with the Lights On is titled: “Life Got Better When I Was Fat.” To illustrate her point, Whitney included a photo of herself topless (which you can see in the book, turn to page 5 on Amazon). She writes: “It was the sexiest photo I’d ever taken.” It was taken in the fall of 2013 by a local photographer, Misty Felde, who asked her “to pose seminude for a boudoir photo shoot.” At 340 pounds, she writes: “I was the heaviest I’d ever been, and in real danger of being the most miserable I’d ever been, when I decided to approach my life in a different way.” My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Wednesdays at 9pm on TLC.
