During the second round of auditions for America’s Got Talent, a musical trio walks on the stage. Nikki Edgar introduces herself, her husband Ryan and their teenage daughter Jaslyn. “We’re a modern family band,” says Nikki. When AGT Judge Simon Cowell asks how it all came about, Nikki explains that she and her husband were in the business with record deals but when Christian artist Nikki became a teenage mom, “they kicked me out of the business.”
On America’s Got Talent the Edgar Family Band sings The Pretenders song “I’ll Stand By You” and gets the audience on their feet. Prince would have been proud. The late great one performed unannounced with Nikki and Ryan at W Hotel Hollywood Jazz Night (see video below). America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
