Christina Grimmie was a charismatic singer who wowed audiences and celebrity coaches alike on The Voice in 2014. She was murdered by a deranged fan after a concert last Friday when she was, typical of her outreach, signing autographs for fans. Grimmie endeared herself to performers and fans alike. Singer Selena Gomez broke down in tears while mourning Grimmie and her tragic death. Gomez had signed the young talent when she was just 14, long before The Voice or Grimmie’s coach on The Voice, Adam Levine, ever heard of her.

But Levine was equally moved by Grimmie’s talent and the senseless deprivation of the joy she brought to the world with her voice. Grimmie’s brother Marcus posted on Facebook the news that Levine had offered to pay for the funeral. “I found out this morning,” he wrote “that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away.”
