On the Bones episode “The Strike in the Chord,” when a dead body is discovered on the campus of Lynwood University (in the rat lab of all places), the team turns to the school’s a cappella group, the Whippersnaps. The young man who was murdered was the head of the men’s a cappella group and recently ejected one of the lead singers, Ian Jansen (guest star Jordan Fisher). When Special Agent Booth (David Boreanaz) interviews the singers/suspects, he’ll get an earful.
Three of the a cappella singers featured on the show are real-life a cappella singers. Scott Hoying, Mitchell Grassi and Kirstin Maldonado are members of the Grammy Award winning group Pentatonix. The five-member band formed in Texas in 2011. Their latest album is Pentatonix. Bones airs Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
