Ozzy Osbourne and his TV hostess wife Sharon Osbourne are rumored to be divorcing after 33 years of marriage. Long after Ozzy was famous for his Prince of Darkness persona as a solo artist and as lead singer of Black Sabbath, the Osbournes paved the way for guilty pleasure reality TV viewing. Their MTV show — featuring sane Sharon and her mumbling metal rock god husband — was a breakout hit in 2002 and lasted until 2005, leaving a mixed legacy eagerly filled by Kardashians, Real Housewives and many more.

Sharon parlayed her emergence from behind-the-scenes manager type to camera-ready personality into a lucrative media career. Two of Ozzy and Sharon’s three children also appeared on The Osbournes. Today Jack Osbourne, 30, has 246K followers on Instagram and nearly half a million on Twitter, where he boasts often about his wife and child, his sobriety and his happy marriage. Kelly Osbourne, 31, also parlayed her childhood stardom into a career. Now 31, with 4 million Twitter followers, she’s a genuine celebrity in her own right who posts things like “I had so much fun with Snoop Dogg yesterday” and promotes healthy body image. The Osbourne’s eldest child Aimee refused to participate in the shenanigans from the get-go and was not a character on the show. The Osbourne children, all now in their 30s, have seen worse things than a late-life divorce and carry on — as people do.
