In the Black Ink Crew episode “Shots Fired,” before bullets are fired into Art2Ink, Puma talks to his employees about promoting the shop. Art2Ink has been open for just a few weeks but the rent is due, and Puma can’t put any more money into the business. “We have dope artists, we have a dope location,” says former BlackInk now Art2Ink employee Sassy, “but we ain’t got no customers, and that’s our problem.” They all agree to throw a grand opening party at the shop.
Sassy should be able to draw a crowd. She was born and raised in the neighborhood. But is her idea for an Arts & Literary event going to be enough? She had photographer Hague NYC and poet E Ortiz showing/demonstrating their work at the studio in March. Art2Ink was asking for $5 donation at the door. Black Ink Crew airs Mondays at 9pm on VH1.
