Country singer Thomas Rhett will perform his hit song “Die A Happy Man” at the 51st ACM Awards. The song is nominated Single of the Year and the album it’s on, Tangled Up, is nominated for Album of the Year. With him at the awards ceremony will be his wife Lauren Rhett (nee Gregory), for whom he wrote the sweet ballad “Die A Happy Man.”
If there’s a more romantic story in the music business, we don’t know about it. Thomas and Lauren have known each other since they were in the first grade. But according to Thomas, she didn’t notice him until they were 16. At the age of 21, in December 2011, Thomas proposed to Lauren at her favorite restaurant in Nashville, Giovanni’s. He wrote “Marry Me?” on a wine bottle and when it was delivered to the table she wrote on the bottle, “Well, duh, yes.” The young couple got married the next year in October 2012. The 51st ACM Awards will air Sunday, April 3 at 8pm on CBS.
