In the tearjerker TV movie Jack of the Red Hearts, a tough teenage runaway named Jack is living on the streets with her little sister Coke (Sophia Anne Caruso). But when social services comes to take Coke again, Jack scrambles to find a job so she can prove she can take care of her little sister “with a real job and a place to live.” Jack — who cleans up and goes by Donna — tricks a woman named Kay (Famke Janssen) into hiring her as a live-in companion for her 11-year-old autistic daughter Glory (Taylor Richardson). The job is more difficult, and more rewarding, than Jack/Donna imagined.
Jack is portrayed by AnnaSophia Robb. The 22-year-old actress is known for her roles on The Carrie Diaries (Carrie Bradshaw) and in the films Bridge to Terabithia (Leslie Burke), the Johnny Depp 2005 version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Violet Beauregarde), and Because of Winn-Dixie (Opal). Robb is currently starring in the new PBS series set in the Civil War, Mercy Street (Alice Green). Jack of the Red Hearts premieres on Lifetime on April 23 at 8pm.
