Arsenio Hall will host the 2016 BET Honors from the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. Five African-American leaders will be honored. They are producer-director Lee Daniels, Ariel Investments president Mellody Hobson, former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder, singer Patti LaBelle, and Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid. To celebrate the laureates, singers Fantasia, The Deele, and Ledisi will perform.
Ledisi, born Ledisi Anibade Young, is a nine-time Grammy Award nominee. The American R&B and jazz singer released her seventh album The Truth in 2014, the same year she starred in the film Selma. She portrayed gospel singer Mahalia Jackson who performed “I Been ‘Buked and I Been Scorned” before Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech at the Lincoln Memorial, not too far from the Warner Theater. The 2016 BET Honors will air on March 14 at 8pm on BET.
