Katie Basden is the young woman from Durham, North Carolina who’s competing on Season 10 of The Voice. The alternative country singer has already released an eight track album on iTunes called Release the Sound. She spent two years working on it while in Nashville, where she was also working as a songwriter. Basden said of Release the Sound: “This whole album is filled with moments that really happened and characters that still exist.”
At the American Songwriter magazine song contest, her “Gypsy Prophet” was chosen as the “Best Country Video Performance” by singer/songwriters Chris Stapleton and Charlie Worsham. You can also hear Basden on The Charlie Rogers Band single “Country in My Veins.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
