Trent Harmon the 25-year-old from Mississippi who’s competing on the fifteenth and final season of American Idol. To secure a spot on the Top 8 list, he sang the Percy Sledge/Michael Bolton song “When A Man Loves a Woman.”
Prior to the performance, in rehearsals, Idol mentor Scott Borchetta told Trent that he makes a lot of weird faces when he sings, and that he should practice singing in front of a mirror and try to relax his face. Trent is a hard-working performer, so he did what Borchetta advised. Problem is his efforts were noticeable during his “When A Man Loves a Woman” performance. Judge Keith Urban told Trent not to let “the facial expression thing get in your way.” JLo agreed. She told Trent: “The faces are you…don’t change a damn thing.” American Idol airs Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
