A few years back The Voice coach Blake Shelton joked about having Miley Cyrus come on the show and twerk. It was 2013 – when twerking was at its peak, largely thanks to Cyrus. At the time, Shelton was asked during an interview “If she [Cyrus] said yes, would you bring her on the show?” Shelton said: “Oh my gosh, I would love to have Miley Cyrus on the show.”
Shelton went on to explain why Cyrus is so successful: “I think she’s talented and I think the joke’s on everybody who’s upset by what she does because it’s worked. When you’re selling that much music it’s not because of a trick it’s because you’ve got people’s attention and they listen to your record and they loved it.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
