Arsenio Hall will host the 2016 BET Honors, which will be televised from the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. Five African-American leaders will be honored including producer/director Lee Daniels, former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder, singer Patti LaBelle, Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid, and Ariel Investments president Mellody Hobson.
The 46-year-old Hobson was born in Chicago, graduated from Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and then returned to Chicago to intern at Ariel Investments. She became Director of Marketing before becoming president of Ariel, one of the largest African American-owned money management companies in the U.S. (managing over $10 billion in assets). Hobson sits on the boards of Dreamworks Animation SKG, Starbucks Corporation, and The Estee Lauder Companies. She married Star Wars creator George Lucas in 2013 at his Skywalker Ranch. They have one daughter together, Everest Hobson Lucas, who will turn three in August 2016.
