“Flagpole Sitta” was a winna as Tyler Posey‘s excellent choice on Lip Sync Battle, and the Teen Wolf probably just won Harvey Danger a couple million new fans. 1998 was a long time ago, but the Harvey Danger track (see/hear below) still sounds fresh — even if the band’s look in the video screams 1990s like Jennifer Aniston‘s Friends hair.
The track popped off the Harvey Danger album Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone?, a ten-cut wallop that put the band at the top for a stint, with “Flagpole Sitta” hitting #3 on the hot rock charts. Below is Harvey Danger’s take, followed by Tyler Posey’s Lip Sync rendition. When Danger re-released Merrymakers in 2014, the liner notes gave a sober impression of their journey: “It’s tempting to be hard on your past self, the one who made all those idiotic mistakes, who scorched so many friendships, who insisted he knew exactly what we was doing while steering car after car into ditch after ditch.” We’re glad they didn’t know then what they know now — and obviously so is Tyler Posey.
