On the FX TV series American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson, former NFL player O.J. Simpson (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) sits in the backseat of a 1993 white Ford Bronco while his former teammate Al Cowlings (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) drives. They lead the Los Angeles Police Department on an infamous car chase. For those who remember watching the chase as it happened (dozens of helicopters followed the Bronco) in 1994, it did appear as if it was a fictional movie. But it wasn’t.

Millennials who are watching the reenactment of the chase on The People vs. O.J. Simpson can’t believe it. A young writer at AV Club writes: “Seriously, for those of us too young to remember this, we ask all you nice people … how insane was this?
