HBO would like Game of Thrones fanatics to know that the Season 6 teaser will land on their curious heads at exactly 8:59pm ET on Sunday night, Valentine’s Day. That’s a coup for Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, whose highly anticipated Vinyl debuts on HBO at 9pm. Jagger, whose famous lyrics include high-pitched cries of “rape and murder“, naturally jibes with the Game of Thrones crowd.
Peter Dinklage, below, even resembles Jagger at times — they share a princely bearing and give off a sense of dangerous power. Vinyl is set in the mid 1970s, which from this vantage point sometimes seems as fictional as George R.R. Martin‘s Westeros. And for real, Vinyl may even have more imaginative costumes, despite GoT’s amazing details. None of the Lannisters can touch some of Vinyl star Bobby Cannavale‘s lapels. With Scorsese in the director’s chair, expect the two shows to compete in level of violence, too. A typically great move by HBO, letting Game of Thrones drop the needle on Vinyl.
