The Lifetime original TV movie Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart chronicles the life of seven-time Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton (Lex Scott Davis). It includes when and how she was discovered by music producers L.A. Reid and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds — her “musical husband” — and how she met her real-life husband. Braxton met keyboardist Keri Lewis when his band Mint Condition opened for her on tour. They married in 2001, the same year Toni gave birth to their son Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis. In 2003, she gave birth to their second son Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis. In 2008, Braxton filed for bankruptcy. The couple separated in 2009. Their divorce was finalized in 2013.

During Braxton’s Vh1 Behind the Music special in 2012, she said about her failed marriage: “I had to figure out a plan for my life that had nothing to do with him.” She added, “I was angry with everybody. I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I felt that I was a person dealing with a lot of struggles and here comes another one.” Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart premieres on Lifetime on January 23 at 8pm. It will air again on January 24 at 12am and 9pm, and January 25 at 1am.
