Two-time Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington (Training Day, Glory) will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 10 (8pm, NBC). The 61-year-old will attend the event with his wife Pauletta (nee Pearson) Washington. They met in 1977 on the set of the TV film Wilma about American track star Wilma Rudolph who won three Gold medals at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. Denzel played teenager Robert Eldridge, who later became Rudolph’s second husband. Pauletta played fellow track star Mae Faggs.
Washington and Pearson married in 1983, when Washington was playing Dr. Phillip Chandler on the popular TV series St. Elsewhere. They have four children together including former football player turned actor John David Washington who made his acting debut in Ballers. Denzel and Pauletta renewed their wedding vows in 1995 in South Africa with Archbishop Desmond Tutu officiating.
