On The Bachelor, Ben Higgins and six of the ladies including Olivia Cardi visit a “Love Lab” in Los Angeles to find out who is the best match for Ben. The women undergo one test that requires them to stand still while a blindfolded Ben smells them. “Dr. Love” – a man wearing a white coat and carrying a clipboard – tells Ben to bend down and sniff them, by their waists “near their reproductive organs.” According to Ben, most of the women smell sweet – flowery, beachy, are terms he uses – although one has a sour scent. (She blames her shirt.)

Another man on TV, Steven Ward of VH1’s Tough Love has developed the Love Lab app. Inspired by the MTV show Catfish where people fall in love with people pretending to be other people, the app vets and authenticates people in their network so you don’t have to worry about being catfished while dating online. The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
