In The Vampire Diaries episode “Hell Is Other People,” Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) finds himself on the wrong end of Julian’s plan to avenge Lily’s death. Damon wakes up inside the Phoenix stone. He’s trapped and tormented by a traumatic experience from his time in the Civil War. Getting out won’t be easy, especially when he comes face-to-face with “his darkest demon” and is haunted by flashbacks of Lily.
Lily is portrayed by Annie Wersching who has fond memories of filming the flashback. “Ian gets to be his younger self with his awesome younger-self hair, which I can’t even deal with,” she laughs. “There’s a whole new twist on that episode and you definitely get to see some cool flashes there.” The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8pm on CW.
