In the new sitcom Telenovela, Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame stars as Ana Sofia, the star of a long-running telenovela. Everything about Ana and the show is over-the-top including the wardrobe. No wonder why she’s so close to the woman in charge of costumes, Mimi Moncada. NBC refers to Ana and Mimi as the “Lucy and Ethel” of the show.

Mimi is portrayed by Diana Maria Riva. She’s best known for her roles on the TV shows Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (Lilly Rodriguez), The West Wing (Edie Ortega), Less Than Perfect (Vivian), Luis (Isabella), and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (Annie). Riva is also recognized for her roles in the films McFarland, USA with Kevin Costner (Señora Diaz) and What Women Want with Mel Gibson (Stella). Telenovela premieres December 7 at 10pm on NBC.
