On the Modern Family episode “White Christmas,” Gloria (Sofia Vergara) rents a cabin for the whole family to spend Christmas together. But of course that doesn’t go as smoothly as planned. When they arrive, they find a woman, Fig Wilson, already in the cabin. She and her family have been spending the holidays in the cabin for years. But this year, unbeknownst to Fig, they rented it out to Gloria and are spending the holidays in Hawaii. When Fig realizes she’s been abandoned, she offers to leave but someone in the family (guess who!) invites her to stay.

After SCTV, she appeared on other variety shows including The Tracey Ullman Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and The Martin Short Show. Martin is also recognized for her roles as Aunt Voula in the film My Big Fat Greek Life. (Yes, she’ll be in the sequel.)
