TLC is airing a program titled My Fat Saved My Life. During the show, a number of people describe how they escaped death because of their weight. One of those people is Samantha Frazier. While vacationing in Atlantic City, the 35-year-old woman stopped by the Tropicana with her cousin to have a drink before returning to their room at the casino. On their way to the bar, Frazier heard “pops” and ducked.
At first Frazier thought she was bit, but she’d been shot in the stomach. The doctors who treated Frazier at the hospital said her “extra weight saved her life.” The bullet didn’t reach her vital organs due to her love handles. Frazier told NBC Philadelphia: “I’d been hollering how I want to lose weight…I don’t want to lose weight anymore. I want to be as big as I can if it’s going to stop a bullet.” My Fat Saved My Life airs on December 30 at 8pm on TLC.
