On the Criminal Minds episode “Awake”, the BAU travels to Arizona to track down an UnSub in Phoenix. He’s kidnapping victims and depriving them of sleep. The team gets help from local Dr. Pat Lewis. She appeared in the Criminal Minds episode The Inspiration (Season 9, 2013). She helped the BAU find serial killer and rapist Wallace Hines (portrayed by Fred Koehler, Kate & Allie, Oz).
Dr. Pat Lewis is portrayed by Leah Garland. The red-headed stage actress has appeared in many roles on many stages including Nora in A Doll’s House and the Innkeeper in Milan Kundera’s Jacques and His Master. Garland is a real-life doctor too – she earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University. She’s written a book about performance theory titled, Contemporary Latina/o Performing Arts of Moraga, Tropicana, Fusco, and Bustamante. Criminal Minds airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
