In the teaser for its December teaser — it’s like those Russian nesting dolls, the launch of things — Super Smash Brothers got the Internet talking about a Cloud that has nothing to do with the one where you store your photos. (Which is good because who’s not tired of hearing about the cloud?) Super Smash Brothers will make Cloud from Final Fantasy VII a playable fighter in its new version, as yet without a release date.
Jason Schreier at Kokatu follows up his own take on the news with a comment: “If Cloud is your teaser what is the main course? Sephiroth? Bonk? Crash Bandicoot? Snake’s return? (Snake proved polar in the 655! responses to this comment.) But it didn’t blow everyone’s minds. “With Ryu making his appearance, we can expect a lot of third-party demanded characters – probably at least the ones Sakurai is familar with,” writes Fieryrebirth. Chronoboy admits: “This is absolutely a blind-siding reveal. A pipe dream fanboy pick, but it feels so goooood!” Schreier’s hardly alone in adding to the wish list. “Hell imagine if Crono from Chrono Trigger became a playable character?” GENGENJUMP chimes in.
