#DCXMMXVI, that’s what the new Dixie Chicks tour is called. The Dixie Chicks obviously heard that the NFL is dumping Roman numerals for this year’s Super Bowl — so they decided to use the totally bewildering digits themselves. Now don’t go trying to put that long sucker of a letter mashup in a Google-fetched Roman Numeral converter either. Won’t help you. The first three letters don’t stand for Roman numbers at all, but for Dixie Chicks (DCX). MMXVI converts as 2016, of course.
The Dixie Chicks jump on the Roman numeral bandwagon just as the NFL jumps off for Super Bowl 50. That 50 converts into a very undramatic Super Bowl L, a visually unimpressive title that spelled doom for the Roman numeral nomenclature in football this year. The Dixie Chicks gladly borrow the digits, announcing a 2016 (oops, sorry, MMXVI) tour that’ll start in Antwerp on April 16 and wrap up at the Hollywood Bowl in LA on October 10. Tickets are on sale now. Would-be Super Bowl L tickets are sold out.
