In the new ABC TV drama Blood & Oil, a young couple moves to “The Bakken” in North Dakota after the biggest oil discovery in American history. Their big dreams of getting rich quick are squashed by Hap, a ruthless tycoon (Don Johnson) who forces them “to put everything on the line, including their marriage.” He’s married to a sophisticated, attractive younger woman named Darla who “is every bit Hap’s equal in building the family’s legacy.”
Darla Briggs is portrayed by Amber Valletta. She started her career at 15 as a fashion model. She was 18 when she landed her first Vogue cover. In the 2000s, she started acting and made a big splash with her role as the sought-after Allegra in the Will Smith movie Hitch. She’s also known for her roles on Legends (Sonya Odum) and Revenge (Lydia Davis). On the personal side, after 12 years of marriage, Briggs and her Olympic volleyball player husband Christian “Chip” McCaw divorced. They have a 14-year-old son, Auden. Blood & Oil airs Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
