The nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning. Game of Thrones leads the pack, with 24 nominations. Other nominated dramas include Downton Abbey, Mad Men, and House of Cards. While there were few surprises among the nominees (Jon Hamm, Claire Danes, Robin Wright, Elisabeth Moss, Louis C.K., Jeffrey Tambor, Amy Schumer, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Christina Hendricks, Lena Headey, and Tina Fey were all nominated in various categories), there were some notable omissions. Julianna Margulies, a winner last year for The Good Wife, was snubbed, as was Scandal‘s Kerry Washington. The Big Bang Theory didn’t receive any nominations, and Fox’s hit Empire was ignored in the Outstanding Drama Series category, as was its star, Terrence Howard.
