A spokesperson for the Pan Am Games held in Toronto said 15,000 tickets were still available for the closing ceremony which will be televised on CBS. But that was before it was announced that American rapper Kanye West was going to perform. Within hours of the news, resale sites started to raise their prices. According to The Peterborough Examiner, “only a handful [of tickets are] left under $200 and some hopeful peddlers asking as much as $1,400.”
Some Canadians don’t like the fact that Kanye West was chosen to join Latino Pitbull and Canadian singer Serena Ryder on the big stage. A petition has been circulating but it has garnered just 30,000 signatures so far. CBS will televised the closing ceremony on Sunday, July 26.
