On the genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are, actress Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time, Big Love) learns about her paternal great grandparents. The 37-year-old said that her grandfather left home at age 11 and never spoke about his parents who lived in Louisiana.
On the show, Goodwin discovers that her great grandmother Nellie was a drug dealer. She was sent to jail for possessing over a gram of morphine with the intent to sell. That was just one of the illegal activities Nellie and her husband were involved in. Goodwin told People magazine, “My great-grandparents didn’t get the Goodwin love, so I feel like it’s important for Oliver [her 13-month-old son] to somehow give them that love retroactively.” Who Do You Think You Are airs Sundays at 9pm on TLC.
