The Chinese government just returned artist Ai Weiwei’s passport to its rightful owner. Now AWW can travel as he likes, including to London where he’s having a show at the Royal Academy of Arts in September. AWW’s inability to leave China over the years hasn’t stopped his friend, art collector Larry Warsh, from visiting. Warsh told The New Yorker that he visits AWW five or six times a year in Beijing, for long weekends. “When I go there, I spend time at his studio, we walk in the park, we eat, we talk.”
On Warsh’s current trip, Weiwei received his passport in the mail. Warsh and Weiwei celebrated by donning t-shirts advertising Harbor Mart and Kitchen, a restaurant in Sag Harbor, New York. On Instagram, WW posted one of Larry bare chested, too.
