According to the latest book about the late, great Whitney Houston, the singer was blackmailed 23 years ago. Ian Halperin, author of “Whitney & Bobbi Kristina: The Deadly Price of Fame,” dug up a FBI report that says an attorney sought to have Houston pay him $250,000 to keep quiet about her alleged lesbian relationship with her longtime friend and personal assistant, Robyn Crawford.
Angela Bassett, who knew Whitney Houston (they starred in Waiting to Exhale together), directed the Lifetime movie Whitney which hinted at Houston’s relationship and Crawford. When asked about Houston’s sexuality, Bassett said she didn’t know for sure. “There always has been [rumors] and they still persist and I don’t know,” said Bassett. “But, there was always the speculation, so my thing was, let it remain. But it’d be however the audience sees it. If they read into it, that’s what they read into [regarding] their life – two women who are close and love each other and support one another.”
