Zoey Barkow is the impressionable, upbeat young nurse on the Showtime dramedy Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco (The Sopranos). In the episode “Serviam in caritate” (translated “I will serve in love”), Jackie and Zoey go on an unexpected road trip to find Jackie’s teenage daughter Grace. En route, Zoey gets stressed out and reveals to Jackie that she might not want to be a nurse anymore.
Zoey is portrayed by 25-year-old New Yorker Merritt Wever. She was conceived via a sperm donor and raised by her mother Georgia, a far-left liberal who sent her to socialist summer camps. Merritt graduated from LaGuardia High School (the “Fame” school) and then Sarah Lawrence. You might also recognized Merritt from the TV show New Girl (Elizabeth) or the films Michael Clayton, Into the Wild, and Birdman. Nurse Jackie airs Sundays at 9pm on Showtime.
