NBC’s new series The Whispers is half thriller, half sci-fi. A mysterious entity named Drill has landed on Earth and is using unwitting and adorable children to facilitate his plans for world domination. His first stop is Washington, DC. (He’s no dummy, this Drill.) When adults notice their children talking to/about Drill they brush him off as a harmless, imaginary friend. But Drill convinces the kids to kill their parents and commit other dangerous games/crimes. It’s loosely based on Ray Bradbury’s short story “Zero Hour.”
Scariest on The Whispers is the possessed kid portrayed by Tate Birchmore. Since launching his acting career in 2014, Birchmore has appeared in the TV series 2 Broke Girls, the Hozier video “From Eden,” and is now filming a couple of episodes of the new TV comedy Blunt Talk starring Patrick Stewart. The Whispers premieres Monday, June 1 at 10pm on ABC.
