Former UCLA defensive lineman Donovan Carter is making his acting debut in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new show Ballers. Carter plays Vernon Littlefield, a professional NFL player who gets taken advantage of by his family and friends. (Vernon’s not the only one.) The Rock’s character, Spencer Strasmore, helps Carter manage his finaces. The Rock helped Donovan, too.

Rookie Carter told Bossip: “There was a couple times we would be shooting and I would be freaking out because I would be thinking, ‘man this is crazy I’m acting and I am in Miami!’” Carter said The Rock “calmed me down and made me comfortable.” Looks like The Rock has the magic touch. Carter will no doubt get more roles after Ballers, which airs Sundays at 10pm on HBO.
