Who Is Dr. Rachel Scott on ‘The Last Ship’?

The post-apocalyptic drama The Last Ship is based on William Brinkley’s 1988 novel of the same title. A virus has wiped out more than half of the population since the USS Nathan James embarked to the Arctic. Captain Tom Chandler believes that the destroyer is the best place to save humanity from extinction. Luckily, he has virologist Dr. Rachel Scott on board. She, a civilian, was originally assigned to the Nathan James to study birds. In Season 2 of The Last Ship, we find Rachel imprisoned, trying to help the sick as doses of the cure run low.

Captain Tom Chandler is portrayed by Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy). Dr. Rachel Scott is portrayed by English-born actress Rhona Mitra. She’s best known for her role as Tara on The Practice and Boston Legal. She was also on Party of Five (Holly), Nip/Tuck (Kit) and more recently Strike Back (Maj. Rachel Dalton) and The Gates (Claire Radcliff). The Last Ship airs Sundays at 9pm on TNT.
