Cari Champion announced that she’s leaving ESPN2’s First Take to join the network’s flagship show SportsCenter. On her podcast “Be Honest,” she made the dramatic announcement following the NBA Finals. While she said she enjoyed every minute of it (covering the Finals for ESPN), she also said, “it was a grind.”
On “First Take” she usually got caught in middle of heated debates between co-hosts Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. On SportsCenter she will work on morning segments including “interactions” about sports and entertainment with members of ABC’s Good Morning America team. Champion’s experience as an entertainment reporter on The Insider will come in handy. Champion will join SportsCenter in mid-July.
