The lovely and talented singer Sharon Irving is competing on America’s Got Talent. She knows she has talent but it’s quite another thing to make it in the business. Irving recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20k to complete her debut album.

With her music, Irving says she pays homage to her ancestors and to those who have gone before her. “I was held in the arms of Miles Davis as a baby. My grandfather, a Baptist preacher and civil rights activist, laid hands on me at an early age. My great, great grandmother, wrote and produced plays in the historic and segregated Jackson Ward neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. I owe it to them and you to see my dream fulfilled.” America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
