Shayna Huber of Highland Heights, Kentucky called 911 after killing her on-again, off-again boyfriend, 29-year-old lawyer Brian Poston, in his apartment. The night before, Poston had told his stepfather that he planned to break up with Huber once and for all. As Huber told her friends, “He says he is only with me [because] I make him feel so awful when I cry. My love has turned to hate.” She shot him with a gun that he kept loaded in the apartment.
At the crime scene Huber was arrested and interrogated. She asked for an attorney but after her Miranda rights were read, she talked about what happened when she shot Poston. She said he was abusive and that she shot him in self-defense. And then she asked a slew of bizarre questions about jail. “Can you shower there? Or do you just get really dirty?” were two. She joked about no one wanting to marry her now, knowing that she killed a boyfriend. Left alone in the interview room (with the video camera rolling), she started to sing and dance. “I killed him. I killed him,” she sang while dancing and snapping her fingers. A Kentucky jury recommended Hubers spend 40 years in prison, but a judge has yet to make a final ruling. ABC 20/20 will investigate the murder of Brian Poston on June 5, 10pm.
