In the season 2 finale of The Blacklist, Red (James Spader) is working hard to clear Liz Keen’s (Megan Boone) name. She’s been framed by the Cabal for murdering a senator and blowing up a CIA secret site. The Cabal claims that Liz (real name Masha Rostova) is really a Russian spy. They say her mother, Katerina Rostova, was a KGB agent which confirms Liz’s/Masha’s “secret criminal agenda.”
Although the episode is called Masha Rostova, Liz is not on Red’s Blacklist. Tom Connelly is the character on the show who “comes front and center.” His plan with the Director (David Strathairn) “really comes all together,” according to The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp. Connelly is portrayed by Reed Birney. He’s best known for his roles as VP Donald Blythe on House of Cards and Mr. Prescott on Gossip Girl. The season finale of The Blacklist airs Thursday, May 14 at 9pm on NBC.
