The Lifetime movie Kidnapped: The Hannah Anderson Story is based on the true story of Hannah Anderson. Anderson was 16-years-old when abducted by a family friend she used to called Uncle Jim. James DiMaggio, 40, kidnapped Hannah after killing her mother and 8-year-old brother. One week later, they were found by the FBI in the Idaho wilderness. DiMaggio was shot dead. The real life Hannah, who survived, calls the movie “a lie of a movie.” She wrote on Instagram: “I never have [sic] them any form of permission to make this movie or even information to put in this movie. Even the preview alone has false facts and untrue events.”
The preview includes this teaser: “As the dust settled, questions began to emerge about the nature of the relationship between Hannah and her kidnapper…and what really happened?” Actress Jessica Amlee plays Hannah. Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) plays Jim. Kidnapped: The Hannah Anderson Story premieres on Lifetime on May 23 at 8pm. It will also air on May 24 (12am, 8pm) and May 25 (12am).
