Nobel Prize winner and subject of Ron Howard’s hit film A Beautiful Mind John Nash was killed in a New Jersey car crash. The driver of a taxi carrying Nash and his wife, Alicia, lost control and hit a guard rail on the New Jersey Turnpike. Nash was 86 and his wife was 82.
Nash won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994 for work he’d done decades earlier. He taught at Princeton University and lived near in Princeton most of his life. Russell Crowe, who played Nash in the Oscar-winning film (Academy Award for Best Picture) tweeted “Stunned…my heart goes out to John & Alicia & family. An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts.” Alicia Nash was instrumental in helping her husband battle paranoid schizophrenia throughout his long life. She was played in the film by Jennifer Connelly.
