In 1959, aspiring actors Jane Fonda and Warren Beatty (both 22 years old at the time) filmed a screen test for a movie called Parrish. Beatty described the film test with Fonda as being “thrown together like two lions in a cage” and that they “kissed until we had practically eaten each other’s heads off.”
Fonda told W Magazine she “didn’t remember the test at all” and jokingly added, “I thought Warren was gay.” She does remember kissing Robert Redford in Barefoot in the Park. She dished a bit more, “Nothing ever happened between us, but he certainly was fabulous to kiss.” Parrish was Fonda’s and Beatty’s first film test, btw. The film was never made.*
*see comments — a version of Parrish was made! thanks, GoogleyEyed. Neither Fonda nor Beatty were in it.
