Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes was born Linnethia Monique Johnson in 1967 in Queens, New York. During the first part of the RHOA reunion, NeNe mentions she wasn’t raised by her mother. Even with therapist Dr. Jeff Gardere by her side, NeNe can’t handle the emotion stirred by this fact. Just like at the group therapy session earlier in the season, NeNe walks out. “I can’t talk about my mom,” she said in tears.
According to Wikipedia, when NeNe was 4, she was sent to live with an aunt in Georgia. Growing up in Athens, NeNe “experienced harsh life lessons as a single mother, a stripper, and a victim of domestic violence.”
