Nathan Hermida is one of the youngest contestants on Season 8 of The Voice. The 17-year-old is on Team Adam. He’s scheduled to graduate this spring from high school. But he doesn’t go to just any old school. Hermida is a senior at Boston Latin School, the oldest existing school in the US.
Boston Latin was established in 1635. Five of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence were educated at Latin — Adams, Franklin, Hancock, Hooper and Paine. Admission is open only to Boston residents and is determined by a student’s score on an entrance exam and recent grades. The school has historically been described as having a sink-or-swim environment. That kind of mentality can help Hermida as he heads into the live playoffs. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
