On Criminal Minds, Hotch (Thomas Gibson) tries to make amends with his father-in-law, Roy Brooks, after learning he’s been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Roy Brooks is portrayed by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning actor Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore Show, Elf). It’s Asner’s second guest appearance this year on CBS. He recently played a perverted liberal billionaire on The Good Wife.
According to imdb.com, the 85-year-old Asner has 12 more projects lined up for 2015. Several of the projects require just Asner’s voice as narrator including the documentary The Gettysburg Address, and the animated Yamasong: March of the Hollows with Abigail Breslin and Whoopi Goldberg. Asner will also appear on camera for an intriguing family Western titled Boonville Redemption with conservative Christian singer Pat Boone and Laura Dern’s mother Diane Ladd (Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart, Primary Colors).
